Product Details
This interactive lecture explores ischemic and hemorrhagic strokes. It’s estimated that approximately 700,000 strokes occur per year in the United States. The incidence of ischemic stroke is about 300 per 100,000 individuals, but the incidence in African-Americans is substantially higher than in whites. Hemorrhagic strokes account for approximately 10% of all strokes, with a higher predilection in African-Americans and those of Asian descent. After completing this course, the practitioner will be able to:
- Identify different types of stroke and associated risk factors.
- Complete the steps of the stroke triage algorithm including:
- Understanding the physiology of oxygen therapy in stroke patients?
- Using out-of-hospital stroke assessment tools?
- Detailing the importance of time in stroke interventions
- Making a transport decision to the most appropriate stroke hospital
Practitioners who successfully complete the Stroke (BLS Edition) course are eligible for 1.0 hours of continuing education
