It discusses common, simple, and effective practices that EMS practitioners can employ to protect not only themselves—but also their patients, coworkers, and family members—from contaminants and the risk of infection.

After completing this course, the practitioner will be able to:

  • Discuss the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s (CDC) recommendations of vaccines for health care providers.
  • Assess eye safety indications and measures.
  • Identify proper handwashing techniques.
  • Identify appropriate use of alcohol-based hand cleaner.

Practitioners who successfully complete the EMS Provider Hygiene, Safety, and Vaccinations (BLS/ALS Edition) course are eligible for 0.5 hours of continuing education
