Product Details
Asthma is the most common chronic disease of childhood, affecting almost five million children in the United States. Half of all pediatric asthma deaths occur in the out-of-hospital setting. Half of all children who die from asthma suffer a final exacerbation of less than two hours’ duration, and some children die within the first hour of the fatal episode.
After completing this course, the practitioner will be able to:
- Identify clinical signs in a child with asthma.
- Explain the key steps in assessing a child with asthma.
- Develop an evidence-based, stepwise approach for escalating therapy in a child with asthma.
Practitioners who successfully complete the Children with Special Healthcare Needs: Asthma Emergencies (BLS/ALS) course are eligible for 1 hour of continuing education
